Favorite Homemade Cleaning Products
I wanted to share the cleaning products I use on a daily basis around the house and how I made them. I actually learned how to make the window cleaner from my cleaning lady that used to come once a month. We have a lot of windows to clean, considering the whole back of my house is covered in French doors, so this easy and inexpensive concoction was a lifesaver.
I found these awesome spray bottles online and have had them for years now with no problems. This window and mirror cleaner is very inexpensive and is non-streaking, I promise you will love it!
Glass Cleaner
1 cup White Vinegar
1 cup Purified Water
1 teaspoon Liquid Dish Detergent
Mix all three ingredients in a 16 oz measuring cup with lip. Poor into spray bottle (use a small funnel for less mess) and shake well. I love the clean look of these labels. Note: Use these microfiber cloths for best results.
Another favorite household cleaner I make is my All-purpose Cleaner. The ingredients are also inexpensive easy to mix, and you can add essential oils to give it a nice scent. I mainly use this cleaner to wipe down our counters and table. We also use it to clean up spills and wipe down cabinetry etc.
To clean my kitchen sink I spray the All-purpose Cleaner all over and then sprinkle baking soda over top. I then use a scrub brush to thoroughly clean and shine my stainless-steel sink.
This is also what I use to mop the floors with but obviously in larger quantities.
All Purpose Cleaner
1 cup Purified Water
1 cup White Vinegar or isopropyl alcohol ** see note below**
1-2 Tablespoons dish detergent or Castile soap
10-15 drops Lemon Essential oil or Lavender oil for scent (optional)
Mix all ingredients in a glass measuring cup with lip and pour into spray bottles.
***Do Not Use Vinegar on Granite, Soapstone or Marble countertops (See Below) ***
For Granite and Marble: Replace the Vinegar with Isopropyl Alcohol
I typically use the disinfectant to clean my counters or sink for when I’ve made something with raw meat or eggs. I also spray it on doorknobs bed or couch pillows, furniture etc. after someone has been sick.
Disinfectant Spray
70% Isopropyl Alcohol
It’s important to use at least 70% Isopropyl Alcohol to be sure that you will kill most bacteria. Spray surface and let sit TWO minutes then wipe down or allow to dry completely.
